BIGFOOT UNDERWATER STUDIO: The Bigfoot Underwater Studio, located in Mactan Island in Cebu, Philippines, is a self-contained underwater film production unit, equipped with its own insert tank, marine platform, crew, film gear with underwater housing, and on-site construction facility for building and rigging underwater sets.

WHAT WE DO: Our studio has managed a wide range of productions, from documentaries and features, like the Fashion TV runway shoots. In fact, Cebu Bigfoot Underwater Studio received the contract to film Nautical Angels, the Fashion TV Underwater calendar.
Beyond this, our studio has been the production house for music videos, television commercials and action-adventure features.
Presently, the international thriller DEEP GOLD is in production at our facility.

OUR CREW: Our Bigfoot Underwater Studio crew has thousands of logged hours shooting in the sea and within our insert tank. Our crew is populated by a diverse set of safety divers, grips, gaffers, cameramen and audio technicians, all experienced in working in underwater conditions. As the need presents itself, we train body doubles and actors for filming underwater.

Our onsite Art Department specializes in building and assembling underwater sets and props. They have designed and built everything from a C-130 airplane and professional boxing ring, to a bomb detonator – all for placement and filming within the insert tank and the sea.

EQUIPMENT: As one would expect, we carry all of the particular underwater housings for a multitude of camera bodies, including the RED camera. Our experienced operators are comfortable with the complete range of camera formats, from 35mm to high definition. The underwater rig in our insert tank is comprehensive, in that we can shoot from either inside the tank, or into the tank from one of several exterior filming windows. Moreover, we have in place a complete underwater lighting package, so that a director of photography can create a wide range of looks. A specialized communication system was installed so that a director can effectively communicate with his actors and crew in the water.

Beyond our inset tank filming capabilities, we have a specially rigged marine platform – clearly the go-to option for any filming expedition. It is equipped to travel to any number paradise islands in the Philippine Archipelago and contains all the diving and film gear that one could need.

LOCATION: Mactan Island happens to be home to one of the few double bank reefs in the world. Situated at the heart of the planet’s richest area for marine biodiversity, the region has become a haven for divers from all over the world. The marine life is so rich and plentiful, that one need not even venture far from shore for spectacular visibility and underwater vistas.
